Weymouth and Portland : Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour provide some of the best natural sailing waters in the UK, with facilities on land to match. The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy offers a members club and courses for sailors of all standards as well as providing all the facilities appropriate for major international events.
The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is built on the site of a former Naval Air Station at Osprey Quay, on England`s south coast. The exposed site at the western end of the English Channel provides excellent facilities for Sailing in all conditions.
Spectators will be able to view the sailing, not only from the shore, but the many high advantage points around the coastline overlooking both Weymouth Bay & Portland Harbour. The area sits right at the heart of England`s first natural World Heritage Site. The 95 mile `Jurassic Coast` stretches from Dorset to East Devon and is of outstanding universal value. The geology represents major stages of the earth`s history.
The National Sailing Academy will benefit from the improved facilities the Games will leave behind, providing a state-of-the-art facility for elite training, competition and local community use.
The South west of England has excellent road and rail links to London and the rest of the UK.
